Bunnell Crossing, Hart County, KY In March 2005 my son-in-law, Jeff, and I drove to Michigan to pick up an antique auto. On our way back to Tennessee we stopped in at Bunnell Crossing, KY which we happened to spot on our maps. If you’re looking for it, it’s just off of I-65, south of Elizabethtown. It is on US 31, which parallels I-65. |

From a local storekeeper
in Hardyville I learned that there were still Bunnells living in the
area and that the name was pronounced with the emphasis on the second
syllable. There is a house on the northeast corner of the intersection
where Bunnells reportedly reside. However the residents were driving
away just as Jeff and I drove up. In the view on the left, the residence
would be kitty-corner from this street sign. |

| Across the street from the house, on the south east side of the intersection is a very small graveyard that is fenced on three sides by a pasture fence that serves to keep the cattle out of the street and the cemetery. In the cemetery are four large and two or three small markers. The small ones are illegible. |

William Wallace Bunnell, CB006522, is the son of Samuel and Sarah (Smith) Bunnell. His lineage is known only one generation back, Samuel being the son of Peter and Susanna (Erwin) Bunnel. Peter was believed to have been born in VA and died 18 Jan 1868 in Hart County, KY. |
